Privacy Policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
This policy explains what WireTell (“we”, “us”), based in Houston, Texas, collects when you use wiretell.com, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run your account and alerts, we do not sell your data, and you can delete your account and data yourself at any time.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, an optional name, and your password, which we store only as a one-way hash.
- League details you connect: for ESPN, the login cookies that let us read your private league, stored encrypted; for Sleeper, your username or league ID. Using these, we read your league's settings, rosters, matchups and transactions, which include other managers' team names as shown in your league.
- Alert settings and history: the email you want alerts sent to, which kinds you chose, quiet hours, and a record of the alerts we sent.
- Feedback: anything you send through Send feedback, and votes you give on stories.
- Billing records: if you subscribe, Stripe handles payment. We receive your Stripe customer ID, plan, status and renewal date. Stripe collects your card and billing address (used to work out sales tax); we never see or store your full card number.
- Technical data: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, the IP address and time of your sessions, and standard web server logs.
- Advertising measurement: on our public pages (the home page, sign-up, sign-in and these legal pages) and on the page you see right after signing up or subscribing, we use the Meta Pixel and the X Pixel. They tell Meta and X that a browser visited, signed up, or started a subscription or trial (with the amount), so we can see which of our ads work and show ads to people likely to be interested. Meta and X may connect this to your accounts with them and use cookies to do so. They do not see your leagues, players, alerts or anything else inside your account. You can turn this off on Your privacy choices, and we treat a browser's Global Privacy Control signal as turning it off.
How we use it
- To run the Service: sign you in, show news about your players, and send the alerts you switch on.
- To bill you if you subscribe, and to calculate and pay sales tax.
- To keep the Service secure, fix problems and improve it, including from your feedback.
- To contact you about your account, such as password resets, billing notices and important changes.
Who we share it with
We share data only with companies that help us run the Service, under their own privacy and security terms, and only as needed:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, and email delivery (Amazon SES).
- Stripe: payments, subscriptions and sales tax.
- ESPN and Sleeper: when we fetch your league for you, using the details you gave us.
- Meta and X: the advertising measurement described above, unless you opt out.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a sale of the business (in which case this policy keeps applying). We do not sell your personal information for money. The advertising measurement above may count as "sharing" for targeted advertising under some US state privacy laws; you can opt out at any time on Your privacy choices.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, leagues, league data, alert settings and history, feedback and sessions straight away; copies in server backups are overwritten on a rolling basis. Stripe keeps payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Web server logs are rotated and deleted on a regular schedule.
Your choices and rights
- See or fix your data: your email, leagues and alert settings are on the Alerts, Leagues and Account pages. Email us for a copy of anything else we hold about you.
- Delete your account: on the Account page, any time.
- Stop emails: switch alerts off on the Alerts page.
- Opt out of advertising measurement: on Your privacy choices, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser.
- Depending on where you live (for example California or another US state with a privacy law), you may have further rights, such as to know, correct or delete your data, or to appeal a decision. Email us and we will respond within the time the law allows. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Security
The site uses HTTPS, passwords are hashed, ESPN league cookies are encrypted, and access to our servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
Children
WireTell is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we will tell you by email or in the Service before the change takes effect.
